Time Keeps Ticking

The year is half over already! Hard to believe, I know. I've always heard it said that time moves faster as you age. I can tell you... this is the truth.

The house hasn't sold yet. The Jeep is now for sale.
Gotta pay the bills, ya know. Hopefully, we can get these two sold and move on. I have been stressing a bit lately over the length of times it's taking to sell the house. We just lowered the price $5000. I'm hoping this will bring some offers.

My second daughter is giving us a run lately. She is of the impression that now that she's 18, she doesn't have to answer for where she is and when. It's not like we are trying to run her life... we just want to know where she is going to be in case something happens and we need to get ahold of her. There are also some loose ends concerning college that need to be taken care of. Her first day of college is coming up real fast! I don't think she realizes how much there is still to do. We got into a fight yesterday... I apologised for my part today. Don't know if she will ever return the courtesy. Comes with the age, I guess.

Only 9 more to go...

Party's Over... Back To Work!

Well, now that the party is over with, the work that didn't get done is still needing to get done.

I was very disappointed in my daughter's classmates. Not one of her fellow Seniors came to her party. She had a few Juniors and some former graduates show up, but none from her own class. I guess I must have missed something along the way. She had plenty of friends at school, but I guess they weren't really her friends.

That didn't stop her from going to all of their parties, though!

I don't know if she was disappointed or not. She hasn't said anything about it. The time slot for her party wasn't the best on a hot day (noon to 4pm). Her mother and I busted our butts to get the place presentable while this daughter was lounging at the beach. I won't do that again. She showed no gratitude for all the work.

Anyway, at least the house is more presentable for our friends who we want to start having over more often. Still lots to be done, but at least we won't be totally embarrassed about the condition of the place.

So who wants to stop in for dinner next?

Two Down, Nine To Go!

The graduation ceremony on Saturday was really nice! They did a great job with the speeches, awards and music.

My folks came as well as my oldest and a friend of hers. I was glad to see them there.

We bought flowers and gave them to her. She was more interested in getting out the door for the parties, though. I think she is ready to shake the dust from her heels and leave that school behind. Soon enough, I'm afraid.

She went to three more parties today. And has plans to go to about 15 more over the next week. Seems all the kids have made arrangements to have open houses (us too).

I remember back when I graduated. There were only a couple of parties to go to back then. I don't think I could have taken many more. I was not a believer then...

Fortunately, I'm fairly certain that all of the parties from this school will be dry if you know what I mean.

I only get to do this nine more times...

Disappointing Service

I'm really disappointed.

The company came on Thursday to deliver the washer and dryer. They took the old set out and brought up the new set. When I asked then to go ahead and stack them, they looked at me funny. Apparently they were under the impression that they were not to be stacked (even though their ticket said to deliver a stacked pair).

They looked all over their truck for the stacking kit and couldn't find it. They said they would have to reschedule for next week to finish the job. Next week!

There is NO way we can go that long without a washer and dryer. So I called Home Depot and complained loudly. Ends up they don't sell the kit. It comes from the delivery company. They, in turn, said that it has to be ordered...

Long story short, Home Depot has agreed to give us a $100 credit on our bill for the trouble and will pay for our laundry expenses for the week (which for us would be close to $60 since we do laundry almost constantly).

So, it seems that we will be waiting a few more days to try out our new pair. Although, I did hook up the washer and it is already in service. It uses a whole lot less water and makes different noises than we are used to, but I'm sure we will get used to that. It also requires the high efficiency detergent which costs more. Hopefully the savings in water and electric (since the water heater won't have to work as hard) and smaller portions of detergent will cover that cost.

More on that later.
