It's A Boy!!

We have a new son. Born on the 14th and weighing 8 pounds, 14.5 ounces and 20" long. Believe it or not, we are still working on a name for him.
That brings the balance to the boys favor now: 6 Sons and 5 Daughters. It also gives a playmate to the youngest boy in the near future. He is a mess, by the way (the next to youngest). Really out of sorts with the new baby and whiny and complaining. I don't know what to do with him, truthfully. He cries whenever he is corrected in the smallest way, and is difficult to get interested in anything. I think he is jealous about the baby somewhat which is normal. He is also teething some as well, so that is adding to his misery.
I've had to start cracking the whip on the other kids. They want to get away with not doing their chores since Mom is not after them. I'm much harder on them as far as requiring the work to be done. It's fine with me, though. I like to keep the ship clean and orderly, so they all have to do their share.

The new baby is a lot of fun ... the poop machine is if full action already.
Actually, I love having a newborn in the house. The wonder of new life is a blessing to witness no matter how many times I see it.

I'm not too good at this

Seems like I don't ever take the time to update this thing often enough. I guess that's why I never had a journal or anything.

Things are going well with the family. The baby was due on Saturday, but decided to wait a while longer. Suits me fine. I hope he/she doesn't come for another three or four days at least. There is too much going on right now. I've taken off next week, so that will give us 14 days when I'm not scheduled to work. That should be a decent break for my wife. There are only two at home now on school days, so the activity level in the house is not so active. I think she will be able to handle it after those two weeks are over. Many of the older ones are excited enough that I think they will be helpful.

I still need/want to take out a couple of birthday kids. I always try to take them out near their birthday for lunch or dinner. It's just the birthday kid and me. I really enjoy it and think they do as well. I tend to get behind at times and have to make up the dinners. I don't mind going out, it's just that I don't seem to have the time when I need it.

That leads me to my next thought. I really need to find a way to get out of the regular rat race. I'm looking at timber land investment as a renewable resourse and potential financial support system for my family in the future (not to mention now). We'll see.

That's about it for today. There will always be more...
