Car, Job and House Update!

It's been a week since I dropped my car off with the electrical problem. Apparently replacing the alternator has fixed the problem. The technician told me that the original alternator was putting out too much voltage.

They also pulled and cleaned all the plugs and tightened the ground going to the computer.

I convinced them to wash it and give me an oil change as well since I was without the car for a whole week.

I've got the car safely parked in the garage until better weather comes.

On another note...
All the overtime that I have been working for the past year will be coming to an end on February 2nd. I will be going back to just working 14 shifts (12 hours each shift) per month instead of 20 - 23 shifts.

I'm finding that I'm a bit apprehensive about this change. I still have to sell my old house (or possibly find a renter) to get rid of the debt of the second mortgage and equity loans.

Please pray that we will be able to complete renovations and sell the house for a fair price very quickly. I'd even ask that you'd pray that we could sell directly to the new owner rather than using a real estate agent. That would enable us to split the savings with the new owner.

We've just about finished the painting of the bedrooms. I had the carpet pulled off the stairs and the second floor hallway. The wood floors underneath look great and I won't be putting carpet back down in these areas. The wall paper in the kitchen and dining rooms is almost all off and spackling is nearing completion in these rooms.

I need to decide on tile for the bathrooms and laundry. Also need to pick wood floor for the kitchen and have it installed. We will clean and refinish the wood floors throughout the house as well (hopefully without having to sand them).

We will also be replacing the fixtures in the powder room.

The garage will get some drywall patched and a fresh coat of paint. I still need to get the rest of my tools and construction materials out of there!

Finally, we will mulch all the flower beds and plant new shrubs and flowers.

So... that's the update for now. Please keep us in prayer! We definitely need it!

New Car Blues

My new Solstice GXP is in the shop. Seems there is a problem with the electrical system that they are having to track down. I was driving it the other day and starting to really get on the turbo when the traction control started braking the wheels and I got a ton of messages on the display: Service ECM, Service Traction, Service ABS, etc. I was able to limp home. I made an appointment with the dealership where I bought it and dropped it off on Wednesday. This is what they've done so far.
The diagnosis is still generally vague. At first they thought it was a grounding issue. They did find a loose ground and tightened it. That didn't fix the problem. Now they are going to replace the alternator. They think it was providing double current to the power board. They don't want just any alternator. They want one off the assembly line from GM (and I agree). Unfortunately, with "just in time" parts suppliers, that means ordering the part and waiting a few days for it to come in.
So in the mean time, I am driving a rental provided by GM through Hertz. No cost to me except for the fuel. I got a 2007 Chevy Impala. 89 miles on the odometer. Nice car. 6 cylinder with 300 horsepower. Not as fun to drive as the Solstice, but it will do.
More on this topic once I know more.

So much for regular updates...

I'm getting worse at this blog thing.

Nothing to really update about. Still have the old house to fix and sell. Still fixing the new house. Rain is keeping me from getting to drive my new car much. Working way too many hours.

Weather is unreal! 65 degrees today! Would have been great for some top down driving, but, you guessed it... rain :-(

I'm really feeling stagnant lately. I think it's the stress I'm feeling with everything. I've lost motivation to do just about everything.

Not to worry. I'll get going again soon. Then I'll be updating with lots of good news and entertaining posts.

In the mean time;
