RIP Trevor Jones

April 18, 2007, Trevor died of a massive heart attack. I knew Trevor through the Crossmen Drum & Bugle Corps. He had the sweetest, fullest tone on a horn. If fact, he was know by the nickname "O" because of it. This man was dedicated to the marching arts. The following is copied from a website for the Teal Sound Drum & Bugle Corps.

"It is with great sadness to report that on Wednesday April 18, 2007 Trevor Jones passed away of a heart attack. Trevor was the corps 1st brass caption head and show coordinator. He held that role from 1998-2002. Trevor was the 1st person to commit to this young corps. He moved from Philadelphia to Jacksonville and lived with me in the 1st 2 years of the corps. Trevor was dedicated and worked hard to create a strong brass presence for Teal Sound. He is the major reason for Teal’s early competitive success. Trevor was strong at taking a young staff and pushing them to achieve greatness. Even when Trevor was not working full time with the corps, I would always call on him to consultant and just check things out. I called on him to come back on full time for the 2006 tour and with his leadership and knowledge Teal Sound was able to continue as a grand finalist once again. Trevor was also responsible for assembling the majority of the staff for the 2007 corps. Trevor will forever and always be a Teal Sound legend. We will all deeply miss Trevor. This is a great lost to the entire drum corps community." Michael Butler – Teal Sound Founder

Anybody want to buy a house?

I've got two for sale if anyone is interested!

Really! I'd sell either one if someone expressed interest. I've been complaining about the amount of gas that we are using. The cost is more than twice what we were paying when we lived in the other house. Part of that is due to the fact that we are driving the kids everywhere again (daughter is no longer driving due to her accident - car totaled).

Anyway... I guess my wife is tired of hearing me complain, so she let me have it. I got mad and told her to clean up the house and put the sign in the yard. She hasn't done it yet, but at this point I don't care anymore.

Maybe it's just the pressure of the second set of bills. I don't know. I've been a little angry lately. Moody. Depressed. I try to keep it to myself and not take it out on anyone. It's not their fault.

I can't wait until the weather breaks for a few days. I want to get in the Solstice and take a long drive. I haven't driven that car for what seems like months. I think that will go a long way in making me feel better.

Long Trip!

Just got back from a trip I took with my daughter. We drove down to North Carolina to visit St. Andrew's Presbyterian College and South Carolina to visit Anderson University (a Baptist school). Her choices, not mine. I fully support her staying in a Christian setting for a few more years. It's not sheltering, it's nurturing. She will be independant and responsible for her choices the same as if she was in any other school. Besides, like I said. They are her choices. She's been accepted at both with academic scholarship money from both.

It was a good trip! Lots of driving (about 1500 miles), but I think the time with her was more than worth the expense. She has made a decision on which school and successfully completed a tryout for an activity she wanted to participate in.

I'm excited for her! Now to find the way to finance the remaining tuition and expenses for this private school...

SNOW!!

It snowed on my birthday! What a great surprise from the Lord! He knows how much I love snow and made it white one last time just for me!
Thank you Lord!

The kids were baking a cake when I left for work. I think one of them was wrapping a present in one of the back rooms. I guess I'll have my party tomorrow with them.

I had a birthday card from a local restaurant that I used tonight for a free dinner before I came in to work. The place is called Caffe Gelato My sister taught the owner in middle school. It's a nice place for authentic Mediterranean and Italian food. I had the Lump Crab and Shrimp Fusilli. They needed to put a little more crab on it, but it was very good. I had some gelato for dessert. I don't remember the flavor, but it was a nice finish to the meal.

I'm back at work now. Not much happening tonight. We got the hard stuff out of the way already from 6pm to 8:30pm. Now I get to walk the floor checking the equipment. I'll watch a little tv as well. All in all a fairly easy night.

The sign is in the yard for our old house. We are officially on the market. Still have some painting and clean up to do. Need to plant some more flowers as well.

Hopefully the house will sell quickly!

My Birthday Tomorrow!

Not that it really matters...

I'll be spending it working both on the house and my regular job (which is where I am now). We're doing the final clean-up and clear-out before the sign goes in the yard on Monday. It's about time! I've really been stressing the extra mortgage and equity payments since my overtime dried up.

I don't expect any recognition of the day from my family either. We kind of already did a mass birthday party last weekend. Although my birthday was kind of an afterthought. There were 4 or 5 others to celebrate from March anyway.

Seems like I'm still a bit down. Don't worry about me, though. I'll get better just as soon as the house sells.
