Does it seem like the year is flying by?!
I can't believe we are already into April. Aside from one (kind of) scary April Fool's joke, I got through yesterday without much ado. I'm really glad SCC didn't need an emergency appendectomy. Ruthie got me good with that one.
I'm on my 7 day break from work. This happens every 4 weeks. It's really nice to be away for a length of time. Unfortunately, due to circumstances concerning the facility upgrade, we are now working a few extra shifts each month to provide additional coverage to ensure the building is well taken care of. What this translates to is me working 4 of my 7 days off, plus 2 or 3 additional shifts throughout the month. This will continue until the project is complete (somewhere around the end of October). I think I've written about this before, so I will try not to repeat too much. While there are many extra shifts, the work is light and the pay is excellent, so I will try not to complain. Suffice it to say that tuition for next year will be covered and I should be able to keep the Solstice.
I tried a new type of drink today. It's called a Lambic. I know many of you don't like the idea of alcoholic beverage consumption and I apologise if this offends. That said, I think I've found something I really like and will continue to consume. The particular type of Lambic that I enjoyed is a Belgian Peche(peach) Beer produced by the Lindeman family. If you are interested, you can read about it
here. I can describe the flavor as sweet and fruity. The aroma of peaches is almost overwhelming. Very pleasant to the nose and tongue. There is virtually no taste of alcohol. Naturally carbonated (very lightly). It's almost like drinking fruit juice. This would be excellent with a dessert course after dinner. I wouldn't recommend more than a small glass at a time, though. It's that sweet. I'll have to try some of the other Lambics in the future.
Today is the beginning of daylight savings time. Did you remember to set your clocks forward? I was at work, so I turned a few of the many clocks there ahead. I took out my phone at 2am and watched it go from 1:59 to 3:00. First time I've done that. It was kind of neat (I know - nerd!). Now my truck has the correct time again. I never changed it from the Fall. It wasn't a problem since I haven't driven it much this last 6 months. I don't think the rest of my family realizes that the time has changed. No one is up yet and it's already 7am. Hope they can get ready for wherever they need to go today. I'm getting ready to go to bed.
Baseball season has officially started for our family. Well... practice season anyway. With so many different kids playing on so many different teams, it's hard to keep it all straight. I've got to get the BIG calender set up with all the important information. My wife wants a light over where this calender is hanging. It's tough getting old and not being able to see in the shadows. I need the light too. I think I'll get one of those stick on, battery powered ones rather than running electric to the location. We'll see how long those batteries last. Has anyone tried them before?
Time for bed. I'll try to do a better job of updating so there is something new to read more often. Before I leave though... a couple of random snow pictures from February, just to prove that we actually had some snow this year.
