Logs!
I've got to take some pictures of this...
The logs were delivered to our supplier today. We were blessed to have someone else needing an order at the same time. This saved us close to $600 in shipping. It was unexpected. God's timing, again! That cash savings will go directly to the air conditioning fund.
The new logs will be installed this weekend. It's getting exciting now!
Roofing work continues. One of the attic fans is installed and I wired it in. It's taking some of that heat out very nicely. Two new skylights were installed. They really open up the loft area and let a lot of light in. I'm glad we decided to add them. I don't remember who's idea it was, but it really makes the room bigger and more useful.
I just picked up yet another shift of overtime. This will also go to the air conditioning fund.
We are still waiting for estimates for new HVAC equipment. I was hoping to get through at least the first year without upgrading, but it looks like we will be better off installing the new system now. To properly cool the home will take multiple systems. The main one will be in the basement to cool the entire first floor. This will be a standard system. The second and third ones will be in the two attic sections to cool each of the 2nd floor areas. These will be heat pumps. The best time to install the attic units is now while we have access open for the wiring and cooling lines. We also have some ceiling areas open which will allow for easy installation of the blowers and ductwork.
